Albany

SMSgt. Roger Dale Lamb, USAF (Ret.), 73, went home to be with the Lord on February 15, 2025, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Andersonville National Cemetery with Joseph W. Jones officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.

Born August 14, 1951, in Pelham, GA he was the son of the late Lee “Red” Lamb Jr. and Joyce Davis Lamb Irvin. Roger proudly served our country in the United States Air Force and retired after 26 years of faithful and honorable service. He met and married Sharon in July of 1990 and together they had 7 children. Roger loved his family and was proud to say he had 16 grandkids and 22 great grands. In his retirement he enjoyed traveling and visiting family, but his greatest joy came from spending time with and spoiling his great grandchildren. He served as the Post Commander and Quarter Master of VFW Post 2785 of Albany, GA and never failed to thank a fellow service member for their service. He was truly proud to be a military man and patriot. Roger never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, he will be greatly missed by all.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Starr Lamb; brother, Lee “Sonny” Lamb III, and nephew, Steve Basko.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife Sharon; children, Brandon Lamb and Candace of Valdosta, GA, Jennifer Simpson, Artesia, NM, Shelley Smith and John of Alamogordo, NM, Roland Smith of Albany, GA, Steven Smith and Sandy of Ft. Gaines, GA, and Marcus Lamb and Kelsey of Albany, GA; sisters, Sarah Lamb Denton and Sammy, Martha Lamb Radcliffe, Valerie Lamb Joiner; one brother, Jack Lamb and Lindsay; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Hall and Hall Funeral Home was given the honor to serve the Lamb family.
