Mrs. Velma Lee Lowrey, 89, of Sylvester, passed away Thursday February 24, 2011 in Sylvester. The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Acree. The Reverend Jeff Barker will officiate with interment to follow in Floral Memory Gardens. Mrs. Lowrey was born July 28, 1921, in Westville, FL, daughter of the late Huey Bland and Dora Lee Morrison Bland. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Acree and retired in 1985 from Coats and Clark. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Our loss is surely Heavens gain. Survivors include her children, Robert Earl Lowrey and wife, Cindy of Albany, Betty Jo Taylor and husband, Jerome of Albany, Barbara McGarvie and husband, Dave of Moore Haven, FL. and Kathy Clark and husband, Toby of Sylvester; brothers, James Forehand and John “Red” Forehand both of Westville, FL.; sisters, Frances Goddin of Bonifay, FL. and Judy Denning and husband, Vonn of Ponce De Leon, FL; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lowrey was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Earl Lowrey; son, Billy Bob Wilson and sister, Mary Curry. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.
