Vernon Dale Blakey

Mr. Vernon Dale Blakey, 52, of Sylvester, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, January 6, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Bethel Baptist Church in Sylvester. Pastor Dan Story, Jr. will officiate with interment to follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Born March 18, 1964 in Tampa, FL, Mr. Blakey was the son of the late Risdon Luke Blakey and Hazel Salters Blakey. He worked as a painter for many years and enjoyed fishing. His life was his family and he loved them all deeply. Mr. Blakey was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Sylvester. In addition to his parents, Mr. Blakey was preceded in death by his brother, Lynn Blakey and sister, Janie Delores Lindsay. Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Rosa Lee Parrish Blakey of Sylvester; sons, Dale Allen Blakey and Thomas Luke Blakey both of Sylvester; daughters and son-in-law, Ashley Nicole and Nick Whitehead of Sale City, Eva Jean Blakey and Sherry Lynn Blakey both of Sylvester; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Karen Blakey of Sinclairville, N.Y., James and Melody Blakey, George and Linda Blakey, Robert and Barbara Blakey, Paul and Jennifer Blakey and Don and Esther Blakey all of Jamestown, N.Y.; two grandchildren that he adored, Alaina Nicole Whitehead and Levi Kale Whitehead both of Sale City; his loving foster parents, Don and Faye Williams of Sylvester; several brother and sister-in-law’s and cousins.
