Walter Leo Cooper, 71, of Albany, passed away Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Willson Hospice Home in Albany. Walter Leo Cooper was born May 6, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio to Barney James Cooper Sr. and Noreen Morgan Cooper who preceded him in death. Mr. Cooper retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1978 having served at duty stations in Camp Lejeune N.C.; Cherry Point, N.C.; Camp Pendleton, CA; And Bartow, CA; as well as in Vietnam and Okinawa, Japan. He later worked for and retired from Turner Electric Works as a machinist. Mr. Cooper collected coins, cars, and greatly loved his grandchildren. Mr. Copper is survived by his wife Carrie Cooper of Albany; his son Wayne T. Cooper and his fiancé Elizabeth of Albany; his brothers, Barney James Cooper Jr. (Sandy) of Sumter Co. FL, Herman Cooper (Shirley) of Streetsboro, Ohio, Harry Cooper (Kathy) of Ohio; his sisters, Martha Coady of Philadelphia, PA, Jeanie Pfhender (Eugene) of Jupiter, FL, Frances Phillips (Bud) of Conway AR, Donna Rickard (Travis) of Streetsboro, Ohio; grandchildren, Anthony Cooper, Michael Cooper, Jacob Jones, Adam Cooper, Rodney Cooper and Austin Gilmore;great-grandchildren, Payton Cooper, Michael Cooper Jr., John Cooper. The family will receive friends Monday, August 9, 2010 from 6:00 â 8:00 p.m. at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.
