William Walter Mattingly

Mr. William Walter Mattingly, 76, of Albany passed away Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services honoring the life of Mr. Mattingly will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 14nbsp;in the Chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home with interment to follow at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery . Reverend Robin Chaplin will officiate. William Walter Mattingly was born October 31, 1933 in Webster, KY to the late, Jack Mattingly and Emma Simpson Mattingly Knott. Mr. Mattingly served bravely in the U.S. Navy and retired form the Navy in June, 1974 having served at many duty stations including the Korean Conflict and in Vietnam and achieving the rank of ASC - E-7.nbsp; After retirement from the Navy, Mr. Mattingly was self-employed and was said to be able to make or repair anything.nbsp; Mr. Mattingly was of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include his wife, Naomi Mattingly; his son David Mattingly; his daughter Debra K Waters; a brother Henry Mattingly of El Paso, TX; three sisters, Dorothy Lawson (Lonnie), Ann Thomas, and Rose Butler all of KY; seven grandchildren, Troy Powell (Loni), Tracy Powell, Kelly Powell, Sandra McDonald, Shawn Mattingly, David Mattingly Jr and Kristina Mattingly; and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 13, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.
