Wilter Nell Bishop

Mrs. Wilter Nell Bishop, 79, of Albany, peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023.

The family will visit with friends Tuesday, May 23, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. (EST) at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. (EST) Wednesday, May 24, 2023, in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home with Rev. Tim J. Bass officiating. She will be laid to rest in her hometown at her home church, Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in Corinth Community, Cragford, AL at 2:00 p.m. (CST).

Nell was born and raised in Cragford, Alabama (Corinth Community) on August 11, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Postell “M.P.” Long and Rena Caldwell Long. Nell was a graduate of Lineville High School in Lineville, AL and shortly after graduation she married Billy Bishop. They lived in Alabama for a few years and eventually moved to Albany, GA where they lived to present day. She worked for Winn Dixie in Albany, GA where she retired after many years. She loved the flowers around her home and loved her Yorkie puppies, but her favorite of all things was spending time at the drag racing track with her family. Nell was an avid and active supporter of drag racing, loved the fast cars, and was proud of her sons when they were on the track. Nell was of the Baptist faith, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who will be greatly missed by all.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bayron (Shorty) Long; 3 sisters, Lois Robertson, Ann Amazon, and Ruth Clark.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Frank Bishop, Sr.; 3 sons, Franky Bishop and Donna of Albany, Scott Bishop of Vienna, and Shannon Bishop of Mitchell County; and 3 grandchildren, Scotty, Miranda, and Cole Bishop.
